Marine Corps families are known for getting the job done and we’ve got a job to do. I’m asking for your support in passing H.R. 24 to change “Department of the Navy” to “Department of the Navy and Marine Corps.”
After research and discussion with Congressman Jones, we will be supporting H.R. 24. Colonel Oliver North responded showing support of MarineParents.com efforts to pass the bill. We need you to spread the word and contact your State Senator to ask for his/her support.

Dear Senator (Name):
I am writing to ask your support for language that was included in H.R. 2647, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2010, which passed the House of Representatives on June 25, 2009.
The language – included in Sec. 903 of the bill – is based on H.R. 24, legislation introduced by North Carolina Congressman Walter Jones to re-designate the Department of the Navy as the Department of the Navy and Marine Corps. This change has widespread support, as H.R. 24 currently boasts 308 cosponsors.
During conference negotiations this fall, please do all you can to ensure Sec. 903 remains in the final version of the National Defense Authorization Act.
The perception that the Marine Corps is subservient to the Navy rather than being equal is a valid and evident issue. This small change will make a vast difference clarifying the relationship the Navy and Marine Corps share as two services operating together as a team.
I am the proud (mother/father/wife/supporter) of a United States Marine and he/she is but one of so many Marines who have served our nation with pride and fervor since 1775.
I hope you will be able to help ensure this change becomes law this fall.
Semper Fi,
